Executive Management

Bjarne Bergheim has served as our Chief Executive Officer and President and as a member of our board of directors since 2008. Mr. Bergheim was our first employee and previously served as our Chief Operating Officer from 2006 to 2008. Prior to joining us, Mr. Bergheim was a co-founder and a member of the management team of Fjord Ventures, LLC, a life science accelerator located in Laguna Hills, California focused on building and operating companies in the medical device, diagnostic and biopharmaceutical sectors. Previously, Mr. Bergheim was the first employee of 3F Therapeutics, Inc., which was acquired by ATS Medical and later by Medtronic, Inc. Mr. Bergheim received a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Irvine and an M.S. in mechanical engineering from the California Institute of Technology. Mr. Bergheim also studied cardiovascular and biomedical engineering at NTNU, Norway in collaboration with Stanford University and California Institute of Technology.

Chris Guo has served as Sonendo’s Chief Financial Officer since June 2026. Mr. Guo joined Sonendo in 2021 as Vice President of Finance and Corporate Controller and has held roles of increasing responsibility, including Interim Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Business Development. During his tenure, he has played a key role in the Company’s financial and strategic initiatives, including capital raising and refinancing, long-range financial planning, business model transformation, operational improvement, and international business development.

Prior to joining Sonendo, Mr. Guo served as Vice President and Corporate Controller at Evolus, Inc., where he helped build and scale the finance organization following the company’s IPO and supported the commercialization of Jeuveau®. Previously, he held finance leadership roles at Amphastar Pharmaceuticals. Earlier in his career, Mr. Guo spent more than eight years with Ernst & Young in the United States and China, including in the firm’s Capital Markets Group, where he advised companies throughout Greater China and Asia on U.S. IPOs and SEC reporting. He also served with the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board.

Mr. Guo is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant. He holds a Master of Accountancy from the University of Oklahoma and a Bachelor of Economics from the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, China.

John P. McGaugh joined Sonendo in 2023 and serves as the Chief Operations Officer, bringing more than 20 years of manufacturing and supply chain experience in startup and large publicly traded companies. From July 2019 to May 2023, Mr. McGaugh served as a multi-site operational leader for Abbott Vascular. In addition to his experience at Abbott, Mr. McGaugh has held leadership roles at Boston Scientific and American Medical Systems. 

Mr. McGaugh received a B.S. in Marketing from San Francisco State University and an M.B.A. in Operations & Supply Chain Management from Golden Gate University, Ageno School of Business.

Robert (Bob) Guyatt serves as Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations at Sonendo, where he leads sales, marketing and go-to-market execution for the GentleWave® technology platform. With more than two decades of commercial leadership in the medical technology and dental industries, Bob has helped define Sonendo’s brand architecture, accelerate adoption of the GentleWave System and reshape its commercial model for growth. 

He previously held senior marketing leadership roles at Danaher and Lifecore Biomedical, holds an M.B.A. in Global Marketing from the University of Redlands and completed the one-year Corporate Innovation Program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Kevin W. Yein has served as our Vice President, Product Development since January 2023. Prior to his current role at Sonendo, Mr. Yein served as our Director, Systems Engineering from January 2020. From January 2014 to January 2020, Mr. Yein was the Director, Project/Systems Engineering at a division of L3-Harris, providing power delivery systems to the US Navy. Mr. Yein also worked at Beckman Coulter Inc., a division of Danaher, for over 11 years in various Product Development roles bringing IVD products to market.

Mr. Yein received a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of California, Berkeley, an M.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Southern California, and an M.B.A. from the University of Southern California.
