Bjarne Bergheim is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Sonendo, Inc., recently named the 19th fastest growing private company in America according to Inc. Magazine. Bjarne has a passion for driving and leading innovative and transformative fast-growth companies. Prior to Sonendo, Bjarne was a member of the Fjord Ventures, LLC team, helping to grow portfolio companies. Bjarne graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Irvine in 1997 and earned a Master of Science degree from the California Institute of Technology in 1998.
Michael brings more than 20 years international experience of working across a range of medical device and healthcare technology companies. Prior to joining Sonendo, Michael was Vice President of Global Product, Marketing and Innovation at Align Technology, a publicly traded company and manufacturer of the Invisalign system. In this role, Michael was responsible for the end-to-end development and commercialization of a range of the company’s new products and programs in addition to leading their global orthodontic channel. Prior to this, he was Director of Sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Before joining Align, Michael worked in a range of sales and marketing roles of increasing responsibility at DePuy Orthopedics, a Johnson & Johnson company, and Vygon, a supplier of single-use medical products. In addition to his multi-national corporate experience, Michael also co-founded a medical device sales training company and has authored several books and publications on selling. Michael holds a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Leeds, an MBA from Warwick Business School and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Executive Coaching from Henley Business School.
Andrew brings more than 25 years of experience in medical device and technology companies. Prior to joining Sonendo, Andrew was the Chief Operating Officer of Accuray, Inc., a publicly traded global provider of innovative cancer treatment technologies, where he was responsible for Manufacturing, Supply Chain and R&D. Prior to Accuray, Andrew held a wide range of roles in Manufacturing, Service, Product Management and M&A at several fast-paced technology companies. Andrew began his career as a nuclear engineer and submarine officer in the US Navy. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the US Naval Academy and a Master of Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business.
Michael brings over 20 years of experience within the medical device and healthcare industries. Prior to joining Sonendo, Michael was the Chief Financial Officer of The HydraFacial Company, a leading manufacturer and marketer of non-invasive equipment and consumables used in aesthetic skin health treatments. Michael has held senior financial leadership positions within Johnson & Johnson, Zimmer Holdings and Danaher Corporation. Early in his career, he spent five years as an auditor in public accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant (Massachusetts). Michael holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts and Master of Science from Bentley College.
Mehrzad joined Sonendo in 2008 as the primary research and innovation driver of Sonendo’s GentleWave® procedure and technology. With 20 years of experience in research and innovation, Mehrzad has a passion for challenging the status quo and developing innovative and transformative technologies. Throughout his career, Mehrzad has authored numerous patent applications and peer-reviewed journal articles. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, and a Master of Science degree from the University of Minnesota where he focused on nanoparticle dynamics and turbulent reacting flows. He then earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, with a focus on the application fluid dynamics in various medical devices and biological systems.
Roy brings over 25 years of experience within the medical device and healthcare industries. Prior to joining Sonendo, Roy spent 10 years working for the Danaher Corporation in two roles; most recently, Roy was the North American Human Resources Leader for Nobel Biocare, a leading dental implant manufacturer. Also, Roy led Human Resources for Sybron Dental Specialties, with responsibility for over 4,600 associates and an HR organization of over 40 professionals. Before, Roy had 16 years at Johnson & Johnson in a variety of Operations and Human Capital roles with increasing levels of responsibility, with his last role being the Vice President of Talent Management for R&D. Roy holds a BA in Economics from Rutgers University, a BS in Industrial Engineering from Rutgers College of Engineering and a MS in Technology Management from Stevens Institute of Technology.
Jacqueline brings over 20 years’ experience representing technology and medical device companies as in-house counsel. Prior to joining Sonendo, Jacqueline spent 15 years as Vice President, General Counsel at Nobel Biocare North America, a Danaher subsidiary, and a leading dental implant and digital dentistry medical device manufacturer. Jacqueline began her in-house career at the joint venture company of Ericsson-Hewlett Packard Telecommunications. Jacqueline holds a B.A. in Political Science from University of Oregon, a M.A. in Political Science from Rutgers University’s Eagleton Institute, and a J.D. from University of Oregon School of Law.
Chris brings almost 20 years of accounting and finance experience in various industries. Prior to joining Sonendo, Chris was VP of Accounting for Evolus, a performance beauty company. Chris’ earlier experiences include auditor at Ernst & Young, inspector at the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, and various accounting and reporting roles in other publicly traded companies. Chris is a certified public accountant in California and a certified management accountant. He received his MS in Accounting at University of Oklahoma and undergraduate economics degree from the University of International Business and Economics, Beijing, China.
Bob has more than 25 years of experience in sales and marketing roles with B2C and B2B companies. Most recently, prior to joining Sonendo, he spent five years with Danaher in key Vice President of Marketing roles for operating companies within their dental platform. In addition, he was recruited to develop the repositioning strategy for Lifecore Biomedical where he was responsible for leading US sales and global marketing, which resulted in the sale of the company at a significant per-share premium. Bob has worked in sales and marketing roles at various organizations such as the Gallo Wine Company, where he started his sales and marketing career. He holds a bachelor's degree from Point Loma Nazarene University, an MBA degree with a concentration in Global Marketing from the University of Redlands and a post-MBA Executive Certificate in Corporate Innovation from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Chris brings over 35 years of experience in the in-vitro diagnostic medical device industry. Prior to joining Sonendo, he was Director of R&D within the Clinical Chemistry/Immunochemistry division at Beckman-Coulter, Inc., and held key roles in the development and commercialization of many in-vitro diagnostic and laboratory automation systems. Chris began his career at Beckman Instruments as a programmer developing software for automated manufacturing test equipment and then transitioned into R&D where he gained valuable experience in hardware and system design, as well as project and functional management. Chris joined Sonendo in January 2017 as Senior Director of R&D for Console Development and held a variety of roles supporting the rapid growth of the company. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from California State University, Fullerton, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Pepperdine Graziadio Business School.
Sara brings over 25 years of Information Technology experience in various industries. Prior to joining Sonendo, Sara was VP of IT for Verizon Connect (Telogis), an industry leader in telematics and fleet management. Sara has managed IT departments at DB Schenker, Washington Mutual and Tricon Global Restaurants. Sara holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin in Management Information Systems & Accounting and a Master of Business Administration from Marquette University.
Steve has more than 30 years of experience in regulatory affairs, quality assurance and clinical study management that meet FDA, ISO, and MDSAP requirements. He has managed regulatory filings and global clinical study programs for Class I-III medical devices in US, EU, Canada, Asia/Oceania and Latin America. His expertise includes working with early stage and multinational public and privately held companies in the ophthalmic, dental, orthopedic, general surgery and cardiovascular device markets. Steve has authored numerous regulatory filings leading to approvals from the FDA as well as well as CE Marking filings for European Union and OUS regulatory approvals. He has also authored/co-authored more than 18 peer-reviewed papers and holds a M.Sc. in Systems Management from the University of Southern California.
